Searching your Instant Web Site

Search is by far one of the most popular features of the Web. Users love to minimize the number of clicks and what better mechanism than search to facilitate that.

All of the work of creating a search index is automatically done when you create an Instant Web Site. In addtion, every night, at non-peak hours, InfoStreet will re-index your site to include the latest additions that you might have. All you have to do, is provide a link on your page to the Search program.

It is very easy to create a link which your visitors can click on and search your Web site. To set up that feature, simply insert the following HTML code anywhere in your document you desire your visitors to click on:

<A HREF="/X/XXX/cgi-bin/search.cgi"> Search </A>

Where X is the first letter of your site name and XXX is the name of your site. (i.e. if your URL is http://www.InstantWeb.com/D/dolphin then your site name is dolphin),

The result of inserting the code above in your HTML document would be similar to the following line:

In addition, if you would like to have an image which your visitors can click on to perform this action, you can insert the following HTML code:

<A HREF="/X/XXX/cgi-bin/search.cgi">
<IMG SRC = "/X/XXX/gifs/your_icon.gif" BORDER=0 </A>

Where X is the first letter of your site name and XXX is the name of your site. The result of inserting the code above in your HTML document will be similar to the Search icon in the bottom of this page.
