The Login field is how you identify yourself to InstantWeb servers when transferring files to and from our servers. The information you enter in this field, combined with the password you enter in the password field will be used to authenticate you.
Login names are also used to authenticate you when you enter a restricted directory. If you lock some of your directories, you would need to enter your login name and password to enter those directories.
With Instant Web Sites, you have a choice to publicize your login name to your visitors or to keep it private. This is due to the fact that your site name (how people in the Internet see you) can be different than your login name, therefore you are not forced to disclose your login name.
It is worth re-iterating that this is a choice of yours and if you choose a site name that is the same as your login name, there is no loss in your functionality.
The login name that your choose cannot be changed later, therefore careful attention must be given to selecting your login name.
